I guess when a procession is called atheist (like that is creating so much controversy these days) is to highlight the absurdity of the devotions that really exalting devotion of atheism. invent gods or atheists hymns are jokes that play down the reverence and seriousness that seek to require religion. We serve the memory of the great feat of leaving the land for the first time to reflect on the value of science, myth-making but not excessive.
With Gagarin space age began, an era that has just passed its penultimate page glory with the retirement of the Space Shuttle . In these 50 years has had time to go to the moon and create a conspiracy theory that denies (which has an incredible popular support ). There are no more heroes with their own name or short-term projects that arouse passions. Only the geeks enjoy with Iridium satellite flare or International Space Station. Supersonic commercial aircraft (Concorde ) and nuclear (so now after the accident in Fukushima ) are technologies which approximately coincided with the launch of the space age and are also being dismantled faster or slower . It appears that the crest of the wave has left behind the physics-based technologies, which already remaining only in the collective search the titanic Higgs boson and the eternally postponed promise of nuclear fusion . Now groundbreaking scientific advances seem to have shifted to biology: cloning, Dolly the sheep , stem cells, functional magnetic resonance imaging and mapping of the operation of the brain ...
