Thus the pulse frequency synchronized with the power to communicate the swing with the same natural frequency, the frequency at which pendula leaving it at your leisure. It is producing a mechanical resonance. Resonance is called the situation in which a regular supply of energy to a system occurs at a frequency that matches the characteristic of that system.

A further interesting phenomenon can take place when considering bridges and mechanical resonance is the one that occurred at the opening of the so called Millennium Bridge in London in 2000. This footbridge was opened on June 10, 2000, and had to be closed again two days later by this phenomenon. Small vibrations that occur at random cause people tend to walk in a manner that compensates it takes to synchronize the passage of many people automatically, making march in formation, amplifying the vibration and endangering structure. The very construction of the bridge to pedestrians auto-sync with its natural frequency! This would be difficult to believe if it were not that apparent in the following video (as of 11:10 seconds is impressive):

The sobering thing, the timing of passage of people who do not know of anything is a collective phenomenon, emerging , we can see very well because it is easily observable, but surely there are many emergent phenomena in the behavior of group people not so easily verified.
